So I'm not for fasting. It kinda frightens me. Oh sure I see and understand the mechanics and appreciate the good it can do for your body (if done properly) but I'm not ready for it. Or am I? So was chatting to a friend the other day who is back to fighting weight again after a long struggle and when asked about said success, fasting was a huge component. But we're not talking fasting during daylight hours, we're talking about the sleep fast. Huh? Oh yes, the not snacking after dinner bit. Wait a minute, I can do that. There are a lot of benefits from giving your body a break, not to mention cutting back on unnecessary extra calories right? Hey listen, you'll always find an argument for and against anything you try. So listen to your body - it usually knows best.

Before and after raw food This is Morgan. THE GOODS is obsessed with Morgan. The picture on the left is Morgs December 2012 and on the right... well that's last week. She's smokin' hot eh. Morgan fought her weight most of her life, when she met her I-love-pastries-and-can-eat-everything-fiance things got worse. Her breaking point came early this year and she made the choice to clean it up. Soon after she joined THE GOODS team and started eating more raw, plant-based, clean foods and green drinks daily. Approaching this lifestyle transition in such a healthful way helped her ditch 85 lbs AND look fantastic doing it. Her advice for all of us is to eliminate refined foods (sugar/flour especially), even for a week, and your palate will find pleasure in the sweetness of real foods. This month Morgan and I are going to do a 5 day cleanse eating only THE GOODS and juicing. So great! Morgan I am in awe, your total commitment to everything you do is beyond admirable. I'm so grateful to see you almost every day, what would I have done without you lady! You blitz with the best of them.

photo cred So I've been plateau-ing for a while now - weight wise, that is.  It happens.  You are all gung-ho for a while and you're getting the results you want on the scales then somewhere between here and there it all comes to a stand still.  Then you play that game of "oh I'll just eat this [insert crap food choice here]" - is it going to make a difference? Because on some bizarre level you almost need to gain weight to re-dedicate your efforts. I've been playing that game for at least a month and I'm done with it.  Done with it because it's frustrating, self-sabotaging behaviour. Done with it because, I actually love myself and I deserve to be happy.  Everybody say that to yourself right now as you read this: I LOVE MYSELF AND I DESERVE TO BE HAPPY. So I'm going to challenge myself and get back in that driver's seat.  Treat my body and mind with the respect it truly deserves.  Stop paying attention to that weight-registering device in the bathroom. Eat beautiful, nourishing, whole foods and be grateful of the life I have. Back on track, Jack!

Photo Cred Cat I think it goes without saying but Cat's a bona fide cool kid with one hell of a magnetic personality.
If ya didn't already know Cat gave birth to a darling chub of a beautiful baby earlier this year, shortly after she came to me and said she was ready. Ready to feel good, to love herself and to take her body back. She officially became the first of many test monkeys for The Goods. In typical fashion she went full-hog and succeeded in record time. Quickly regaining her lost sense of smell and dropping 33 lbs in under three months. Yeah we've seen her lose weight before, but not like this, her body did more than shed some pounds, her actual shape changed.By cleaning up her diet she cleaned up her body and tossed out the junk (see photo reference). It's been awesome to watch her take control of her life and see her thrive. All the while being a great mom to her little ones, a hot wifey to Kods, a good friend to countless amazing people, a fantastic blogger and a master gardener. Talk about inspiration, it's good to call her my friend. If you want to hear more about Cat's journey with The Goods, drop her a line here.
