Let's mix it up and pull the greens out of our green smoothies. Keep in mind leafy greens are essential but it's important to mix it up, variety is what really allows us to thrive on a plant based diet. This smoothie is loaded with veggies, it's delicious and a nice change. The Vortex Makes 1Ls 2 cups water 3 ice cubes 1/2 red beet 1/3 zucchini 1/2 organic apple, fuji or gala 1 organic oranges 1 organic carrot 1" ginger, peeled 1 tbsp hemp Peel the oranges, but leave the skin on everything else. Blend smooth and down all that veggie love. Thanks Gosi for the inspiration, as always.

Oh delicious! I had a bunch of stuff in the fridge and decided to make a green juice, I've been so green smoothie crazy lately I've been neglecting the green juice. And let me tell you it was delicious spicy-sweet goodness. It has a little more fruit than I'd usually go with, but all good for you nonetheless. Clean Out The Fridge 2 organic sweet oranges, juiced 1 organic lemon, juiced 1 organic fuji apple 2 organic carrots 1/2 bunch of parsley 2 leaves of organic kale 2" chunk of ginger 2 tsp turmeric Juice (squeeze) the citrus first to use as your liquid base (no water added). Add remaining ingredients to blender, blend on high for 45 seconds at most. Pour through a nut milk bag and drink. Remember juice loses it'd goodness fast once fiber is removed, so store in a size appropriate glass jar for no more than 12 hours.

20131018-085102.jpg I LOVE my Vitamix, it's blended over 4000 Ls and runs like a dream. But I like to spread the love, so when it was time to buy a new blender for home I decided to give the Blendtec a spin. I must say, I'm really happy with it. The Goods - Way smaller - actually fits on the counter, under the cabinets Easy to clean - square canister doesn't have any nooks or crannies Cheaper - almost $100 cheaper than the competition Superficial - really good looking The Bads - Less control - blend speed and functions are digital, there are no dials (I like dials) Messy - the liquid really splashes up the insides and on the lid Anyone looking to buy a real blender for their personal use, Blendtec is where it's at. The finished product is smooth, the timer function allows you to do other things while it's blending and the price savings can't be beat. If you want a Vitamix I don't blame you, I'm not a total convert, I just think the Blendtec is a great option for those of us on a budget. Ps. What's in the blender? Spinach, parsley, cucumber, apple, pear and water. Fricken' delicious.

Case of Limes The sun is shinning, it's Friday and I'm in a damn good mood. So I'm going to share with you the most delicious smoothie recipe from delivery yesterday, it took me a couple rounds but man this might be my smoothie for the summer. Incognito Mojito* makes 2Ls Baby bok choy, three heads 2 sprigs fresh mint 2 limes, juiced 2-1/2 apples 2 cups water 12 ice cubes Blend smooth and enjoy! Cat and I are losing our minds over this one *this smoothie was declared the "Incognito Mojito" by a very exuberant and newly converted smoothie addict... who also happens to be my roomie and bestie.
