Photo Cred Lisa Wowy wow! I've been on a juice fast and liver cleanse since Saturday, we broke the fast Wednesday decided to head out for an amazing meal experience last night. And did True Food Kitchen in Scottsdale ever hit the mark. The menu is based on Dr. Weil's anti-inflammatory diet and the food does not disappoint, everything from the edemame dumplings to the panang curry was delectable. I so loved the opportunity to go out and eat such delicious clean food, with vegan, gluten free options there is something for everyone. True Food come to Toronto pleeease! Oh and to my girls, we will be slugging back sparkling grape fruit cinnamon drinks inspired by True Food Kitchen next week. Yay!

Photo Cred Lisa I hit up The Ex at the CNE grounds last night, the people watching was out of control! I could spend my day on a bench at The Ex just checking out all the "diversity" in this world. Wow. Anyway, it was super exciting to have a raw food option, Vie, which is located in the main food building has surprisingly prime real estate when you enter through the Buskers Corner entrance, check out the map. I ordered the taco, enchilada and shared a few desserts. The portion sizes were big, both the taco and enchilada were too much food, and the prices about average at $25 including a kambucha. Which of course is crazy, but we're talking CNE here. The taco was super delicious and the enchilada was close but needed a punch of flavour, the desserts were tasty but tiny. I would eat there again, and hope to see them pop up around the city soon. It was kinda awesome leaving The Ex and not feeling like I wanted to barf, yay Vie!

Photo Cred Lisa The Ex opens today at the CNE grounds, and while I've literally had the time of my life there in years past it's a little scary from a food standpoint as deep fried butter and pork on pork sandwiches are the typical fare. But this year, are you ready for it, there is a raw booth! Holy crap! Check out the listing of food available here, from the sounds of it Vie will be serving up tacos, pizza and a bunch of other fancy living food. I'm pretty excited! I'm just so happy to see a healthy option, I love eating out and it's great to indulge in raw foods made by someone else. Hooray! For more info on Vie here is their website and twitter.

photo cred Cat I recently spent 4 glorious days in Soho (NYC) as an incredible birthday surprise from Kods.  Not only was it beyond expectation, we naturally sought out good-for-you food rather than filling our bellies with crap.  This is now the second time this summer I have managed to go away and not put on the usual 5-8lbs.  In fact, I lost 1 lbs yet still managed to eat a ton (of course walking everywhere, I'm sure, helped too)  Some of the stand-outs for me were: 1. Organic Avenue - Had a fantastic raw oatmeal (which I promise to recreate and share the recipe) and a super green juice (maybe too green for my liking but it sure gave me the fuel to walk 8 hours that day). 2. Local - Sampled their fair-trade tea and muffins in the morning.  Had a great convo with the owner and he had petitioned the neighbourhood to take over 1 parking spot outside his restaurant so that he could convert it to a beautiful outside sitting area open to the public. Amaze-balls. 3. Souen - Had a gorgeous lemon pesto covered salmon with seaweed and steamed greens. Outstanding price for the amount of food. If ever in Soho - do yourself a solid and try them out.

Photo Cred Lisa Stopped by Urban Herbivore in Kensington this week for a quickie bite. The food was delicious, I ordered a veggie bowl and sandwich to share. It came to roughly $20, and was more than enough for two for lunch and packed with lots of fresh, organic ingredients. I would stop by again for sure though my preference in the area is Hibiscus as their prices are a little better and the staff is so friendly. The Urban Herbivore staff seemed overwhelmed and not overly helpful when I asked for recommendations.  Mind you I believe new staff was being trained so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Just another good option for takeout in the city!
