Melon Cake Triple P strikes again, this time she hit us with a dessert which was devoured with glee! Finally something good comes of her obsessive Pinning... Super easy to make, chop a watermelon in half, flatten out the bottom and clean off the rind so you have a nice round cake shape. Ice with a vegan whipped cream or if you're up for an intermediate raw recipe challenge try Elaina Love's Sky High Whip Cream... it's beyond delicious, sugar-free and good for you! What the?! We decorated the cake with berries, but you could consider doing it Parker-style with some rainbowed fruit. Keep in mind watermelon moves fast through your system, so eating it after rather than before consuming two burgers and a mini keg (or in our case bowls of Mexican riced cabbage, hummus and gluten-free crackers) will make for pregnancy scare bloat-out for sure. Or try it yourself if you don't believe me... Happy Monday! It's gonna be a good week.

Elaina Love If you've been following The Goods for a while you've heard me mentioned Elaina Love, some of you even met her. Many of our best recipes are hers or inspired by her and she is the beautiful soul who taught me everything I know about the raw world. There are some people who come into your life and change you forever. Elaina is one of those people for me, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today if it wasn't for her and the academy. I don't think I've ever know someone who's light radiates out, in all directions across the entire planet like Elaina Love's does. It was her birthday yesterday, I would have loved to spend it with her. But I must be patient, waiting in anticipation for our next chance to team up, in some capacity, which I don't doubt will shake up things for me again. She is the queen bee, head witch, mother of raw, goddess of green and I'm blessed to call her my friend and teacher. Happy belated birthday Elaina Love. x

20130606-223156.jpg So what's everyone have planned for the weekend? The weather forecast isn't great, but I know where you can get your share of phytochemicals. Check out the Raw Vegan Festival, running Saturday and Sunday in the Bathurst and Bloor area. Lots of vendors and free admission. I bet you'll see some new things and have a chance to sample amazing and unique eats... and maybe be a bit better for it. I'm pretty excited to wander about, I love seeing what everyone is into! See you there?

photo cred Cat We had a wonderful class last night with a spectacular bunch of ladies. The Goods hosted a raw Mexican Fiesta class based on the recipes of the famous and fabulous Elaina Love (through whom all of this was made possible). It was such a pleasure cooking and teaching these lovely ladies. The class was set up by Nadine for her friends. When one friend was told about the upcoming class the reaction was this " What that f***? Raw Mexican?". Needless to say, she was one of our more enthusiastic participants. The food was next level. Talk about guilt-free second helpings. The biggest takeaway from the night was that it's all about adding to your diet not taking away. Add that smoothie, add those gorgeous local fruits and veggies and the rest will follow. Trust me. Check out more of Elaina's easy, delicious and so damn good for you recipes on our blog like this and this.
