It's home cooking kinda weather and we've partnered with local friends, who create beautifully plant powered blogs, to share some of our favourite new recipes with them and you. This week, the lovely Tara Tomulka, creator of Rawcology has invited me guest blog and I've chosen my recipe for these addictive BBQ Brussles Crisps. They are raw, vegan and delicious. Check us out now on Rawcology.

Green smoothies and full blend juices are where it's at. We drink our blended vegetables and fruits in their entirety daily - edible skins, seeds, fibre and all... nothing extracted. The vast majority of us could use more roughage, fibre does the dirty work. Fibre acts like a broom and sweeps through your digestive track, getting in all the nooks and kicking the grime, dust and ancient crud out the backdoor. This clears the way so your body can absorb the concentration of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients from the blended plants. And if you're lucky, all that fibre might even smooth things over between you and your poo. Juice extraction has its pros, it can be a great way to get an extra dose of vitamins, people suffering from a myriad of digestive issues may do better sans fibre (read cold-pressed) and for healing, supervised juicing can be powerful medicine. Challenge yourself to down a big, fibre full, green smoothie daily for a week. Maybe you'll pickup a new goods habit you love... you might even feel amazing. Loads of clean-vegan, green drink recipes here.

Yip yip Canada Day is here! If you're off to the cottage or hanging with the fam, planning around all the food needs can seem like a total pain, but it's not impossible. You know we're all about what you DO eat and less about what you DON'T eat. Food is personal, don't we know it, but all of us feel better when eating fresh veggies and fruits on the regular. So enjoy your weekend with friends, indulge if you choose, just eat/drink your greens too. Make a couple of big jars of smoothies before you leave, they'll keep for 3 to 4 days refrigerated and ensure you're keeping your system moving and nourished. Cottage Buddy  3-4 bunches of bok choy 2 organic carrots 1" peeled ginger 1 lemon, juiced 1 red delicious organic apple 1 bosc organic pear 1 tbsp hemp oil 1 tray ice cubes  2 cups filtered water Blend all ingredients except ice until smooth, add ice and blend again quickly. Now have fun and enjoy the sun. Oh and The Weekender is another great travel smoothie recipe.

Have you seen these little weirdos at the market... they're lychees, they're tropical and they're delicious. Red when first picked, they turn brown after being chilled but that doesn't affect the fruit inside. Lychee contains vitamin C, 72mg per 100g compared to the 53mg in oranges. So roughly 9 lychees is the daily requirement of vitamin C. Use your hands or a small knife to peel back the hard skin and then peel the aromatic fruit inside away from the seed. A perfect snack on the beach or at the cottage. Eat them as is or add them to smoothies, salads and desserts. Cool Lychee Smoothie Makes 2Ls 1 leaf of organic kale 1/2 head organic leaf lettuce 9 lychees, peeled and pitted 4 mint leaves 1/3 organic cucumber 1-1/2 organic apple 2 cups filtered water 1 tray of ice Blend all ingredients except ice until smooth. Add ice, blend again then share with a friend.

Ohhh sunny days ahead and this year we're excited to be part of summer in a big way. Two upcoming events we'd love to see your sunny faces at: On Friday May 30, from 5pm to 11pm CraveTO is hosting the first outdoor food fest of the season at Wychwood Barns, with music, lots of food under $5 and us! We'll be offering Mini Noodle Bowls and our brand new BBQ Brussels. So delicious, raw and vegan... it is the Goods after all. Dundas West Fest this year is going to be even better than the last. Dundas closes from Landsdowne to Ossington on Saturday, June 7 all day so the cafes and stores can set up shop on the sunny street. It's a great community event and really shows off all DuWest has to offer. Bring your friends, veg and meat heads alike, there will be lots of good stuff for all to enjoy.
