I am pleased to announce the Goods is approved by the Darou Wellness Program for the month of July. The integrated team at Darou Wellness not only supports their patients but also local, like-minded businesses in the Toronto wellness community. I have a wonderful history with the founder Dr. Shauna Darou, she was my first naturopathic doctor and a guiding light in the early days of my transition to a plant based diet. I still follow much of her direction years later and I feel honoured that her program has approved the Goods as a healthy business in the city.  If you're looking to take your health to the next level, see a naturopathic doctor. It'll be worth it, they are experts in natural health and wellness.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoTGMxgn1tg&w=420&h=315] Big thanks to one of our fav goodies for getting me all fired up about protein today. Listen. If you want to eat meat go for it, but not because you think you have to. Protein deficiencies are not an issue for most/all Westerners and looking to meat exclusively as a quality protein source is outdated. Sure animal products have protein but they have a lot of bad stuff too, and don't even get me started on the environmental impact or the animal suffering (life changing link, you've been warned). Our bodies are not designed like carnivores, we don't have the teeth, jaw or the short digestive tract of a carnivore. It's important to educate yourself and while I love posting about celebrities I think the best example are athletes. These people don't sit at a desk all day and more and more of them are switching to plant based diets as the results are easily tracked and tough to dispute. Eat what you want, just know why you're eating it.

I love my docs. While in Tucson, AZ this weekend I went to a screening of May I Be Frank at The Loft which is a fantastic, nonprofit, local theater that serves organic popcorn with organic veggie oil. Can you believe that! The event was organized by Shop Organic, they had a bunch of raw food vendors set up, and the screening was followed by a question and answer period with Frank Ferrante himself. It's a moving yet entertaining film. I highly recommend checking it out if you're unsure of the cause of your poor state of mind, excess weight, health issues and/or general malaise. Or if you're up for an inspiring, feel good story, with a highly likeable and charismatic main character. Plus knowledge fuels change... you know you want it. Click here for doc's website.
