20130927-110040.jpg I've been moping around the apartment, my Vitamix is on loan so no morning Insteada for me, which I usually make with a scoop of Sunwarrior. When a tweet comes in from Alicia thinking I might like to check out this blender hack. Are you kidding me! I keep my Nan's 1960's Oster on the top shelf (mf) because it's beautiful, the motor runs like a dream, though the canister blade combo doesn't. My Mom made all my baby food (read 70's version of smoothies) in this sexy thing, so I've got a lot of heart for its shiny chrome finish. Anyway, I unscrewed the base from the original canister, replaced it with a narrow mouth mason, filled it with my magic potion and I'm happily typing and sipping on my protein packed power drink right now. Thanks you Alicia! Best share of the year! And great blog post topic on the fly.

It's cottage season, fun times ahead which likely means a tumble off the wagon weekly for many. Listen it happens, but with just a little planning you can at least keep the greens flowing. I grabbed a few of these 2L mason jars from the local hardware store. They're perfect as it's 2 or 4 servings of smoothie which will take you through the weekend. And keeps you from messing with the crappy immersion blender at the cottage... that thing won't touch kale, I've tried. The Weekender makes 2L 2 huge handfuls of spinach 1/2 avocado 1 whole lemon, peeled 1 gala OR fuji apple 1 ripe pear 1 tbsp chia 4 cups water Blend smooth! Consider making two batches to share with friends, always be spreading the blended veg love.

Mung Sprouts by Lisa Check it out, after 72 hours one cup of dry mung beans has sprouted into 8 packed cups of mung bean sprouts. Delicious in salads, sandwiches and stir-fry's or simply with some olive oil salt and pepper, personally my favourite snack to grab on the go... oh how far I've come. Loaded with vitamins and minerals and lots of amino acids. Sprouts are living foods that nourish your cells and provide loads of those magical enzymes. Try This 1. Rinse 1/4 cup dry mung beans and soak overnight (or 4 hours) 2. In the morning rinse and drain 3. In the evening rinse and drain Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the beans have a tail 1/4" or longer, about 48 to 72 hours. Then just pop them in the fridge to stop their growth process. I use a mason jar with no lid and leave it a counter out of direct sunlight. Remember they will grow about 8x their original size so make sure their container has room. I promise this is so simple, you could do it at your desk... oh good idea! If you try it Instragm or Tweet the pictures please @thegoodsisgood we wanna see.

Snow Day Snow day!!!! Hopefully you're all tucked in nice and warm at home. If you haven't had a smoothie today this one is delicious. I usually try to stick to two pieces of fruit but what the heck! Snow Day Sunshine Smoothie  handful spinach 2 leaves kale 1 smallish carrot 3 small apples 2 tbsp hemp 1 piece of ginger (end of your baby finger in size) 4 cups filtered water Blend it smooth. Makes 2Ls, I store half in a mason jar for the next day. Good one Asil, and thanks for the photo.

The RedNeck Guzzler I received a Christmas gift last night from the lovely ladies at Selwyn Elementary, as my mother says the celebration isn't over until you open your last gift. Phew! Now I can take down my tree. I'm obsessed with this jar! I'm telling you, it makes drinking smoothies while driving about 100x less messy/dangerous. If you want one, and you should, it's called The Original RedNeck Guzzler. Guzzler, good word. Alexia and Meagan, thank you both so much! You are the best, xoxoxo
