Oh delicious! I had a bunch of stuff in the fridge and decided to make a green juice, I've been so green smoothie crazy lately I've been neglecting the green juice. And let me tell you it was delicious spicy-sweet goodness. It has a little more fruit than I'd usually go with, but all good for you nonetheless. Clean Out The Fridge 2 organic sweet oranges, juiced 1 organic lemon, juiced 1 organic fuji apple 2 organic carrots 1/2 bunch of parsley 2 leaves of organic kale 2" chunk of ginger 2 tsp turmeric Juice (squeeze) the citrus first to use as your liquid base (no water added). Add remaining ingredients to blender, blend on high for 45 seconds at most. Pour through a nut milk bag and drink. Remember juice loses it'd goodness fast once fiber is removed, so store in a size appropriate glass jar for no more than 12 hours.

Photo Cred Lisa It's peach season! I'm so excited!! Peaches, when local and in season, are the most delicious fruit on the planet. Move over mango. Plus these are first round peaches, give them another few weeks and oh sweet jesus! I've been all about juices for the last few days, due to the heatwave, so I just squeezed this tasty combo: Fuzzy Peach Juice  2 ripe peaches 1 yam OR sweet potato 1/2 cucumber At least two handfuls of spinach 1 cup of water (if needed) Wash, chop, blend and strain OR juice Peaches eaten seasonally have lots of great health and beauty benefits, and with just a touch more sugar than apples. They're also a great fruit to buy in bulk at the market to slice and freeze OR dehydrate for the winter. If you can manage not to eat them before the cold weather gets here that is. Sorry, no more talk of winter.

20130508-131834.jpg New kitchen project, wheat grass juicing!! It has quite a following as an alternative treatment for curing many diseases, there are clinics all over the world dedicated to treating patients using this therapy. And it's your lucky day, you don't even have to own a juicer to make it at home. A few things to know, the fiber is toxic so it needs to be removed, you can't just throw the grass in your smoothie you need to extract the juice from the fiber. If you have a juicer, push a handful or two through. If not you can use your blender, add a little water and press it through a nut milk bags to remove the pulp... click here for directions. Remember to drink it right away! Wheat grass is a complete protein, it has 10x more calcium than cow milk (gag), lots of iron plus B12 which is hard to find in plants. Cool eh! You can grow it yourself, pick up a bag from Kind Organics at Sorauren Market or most health food stores sell it in potters.

Cranberry Juice I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and now you're all back on the wagon starting with a big green smoothie this morning right? My holiday was great, lots of family, friends and delicious food. One dish I loved was a very simple cranberry sauce, basically it was cranberries, orange juice and sweetener boiled until it was a lovely jam-like consistency. Her sauce inspired me to juice some cranberries this morning. This is a delicious juice, high in vitamin C and very easy to make. Holiday Cranberry Juice 12 oz bag cranberries 3 clementine oranges, zest and peel 1" ginger 3 tbsp honey OR coconut sugar OR stevia 3 cups filtered water Blend cranberries, oranges, zest, ginger, sweetener and water, pour through a juicing bag to remove pulp and chill. Delicious and good for you!
