Saturday’s Dundas West Fest closed a 1.7km strip between Lansdowne and Shaw, welcoming pedestrian traffic and allowing businesses to set up shop outside their stores.
This year we did something different and threw a community BBQ. Calling on local business friends we created a menu that included craft beer from Blood Brothers Brewing, cold drinks from RI Coffee, artisanal breads from Mattachioni and Tori’s Bakeshop, hot sauce from Stasis Preserves and treats from Sweethart Kitchen. It was quite a feast! We prepared layered grilled veggie sandwiches, smothered in our baba ganoush and mustard, grilled pineapple on skewers and our new Carmenta caesar salad.
And while all the options were undeniably delicious, what surprised us the most was the overwhelming gratitude and relief when patrons discovered our barbecue was created with unprocessed plant based options and whole ingredients.
It’s a constant challenge, this real food, small business thing we do. But to see how much things have changed, to see the increasing demand for actually healthy food from a widening group of people, makes us pleased to be part of this shift. It rejuvenates our passion.
Thank you for seeking more from your food, your choices make the difference.
The CraveTO event was awesome on Friday and we’re happy to say we debut our BBQ Brussel Crisps and they were a hit.
If you wanna give them a try you must come see us Saturday, June 7 for the Dundas West Fest. It’s hands down my favourite street festival in the city. Dundas is closed between Landsdowne and Ossington so the stores can unload their goods into the street. It’s all music, food, drink and shopping… oh and lots of people watching.
We’ll have a patio setup with our full menu available, plus some new iced drinks for the summer and if they arrive in time we’ll be cracking real coconuts on the street, no tetra packs at the Goods.
Only 5 more sleeps!
Ohhh sunny days ahead and this year we’re excited to be part of summer in a big way.
Two upcoming events we’d love to see your sunny faces at:
On Friday May 30, from 5pm to 11pm CraveTO is hosting the first outdoor food fest of the season at Wychwood Barns, with music, lots of food under $5 and us! We’ll be offering Mini Noodle Bowls and our brand new BBQ Brussels. So delicious, raw and vegan… it is the Goods after all.
Dundas West Fest this year is going to be even better than the last. Dundas closes from Landsdowne to Ossington on Saturday, June 7 all day so the cafes and stores can set up shop on the sunny street. It’s a great community event and really shows off all DuWest has to offer.
Bring your friends, veg and meat heads alike, there will be lots of good stuff for all to enjoy.
