Self-care – what was once viewed as self-indulgent is now becoming widely accepted as a non-negotiable for women (and amen to that). The art of self-care is unique to everyone – some people love nothing better than a hot uninterrupted bath, while for others filling their home with greenery and palo santo does the trick.
We thought we’d share some of our go-to Toronto spots for a little dose of self-care – whether it’s through movement, shopping, a hot bevvy or a good teeth cleaning, we hope you’ll check out some (or all!) of these neighbourhood gems for a little self-care.
MISFITSTUDIO | Queen Studio + Ossington Studio
Both studios act as a second home – it’s a place to enjoy movement, community, and feed your body and soul. Amber J and the entire MISFIT tribe of teachers will bring you back to yourself, every time.
Yogaspace | Ossington
Long-time local yoga love – Bibi’s two hour class will change your life!
Health Hut | College Street
The new location is simply perfection. Owner Tara hosts a ton of classes to up your self-care game and stocks only the most trusted natural beauty brands, including one of our all-time faves Province Apothecary.
Gee Beauty | Rosedale
Gee Beauty is the OG of natural beauty products. Owned by a mother and her three daughters. Co-owner Steph Gee is a wellness natural – you can get to know her on the podcast Lemon Water.
Likely General | Roncesvalles
One of our favourite spots for a little retail therapy on a Saturday afternoon. Owner Brook is a multi-talented artist herself and curates her collection sourcing from local makers, handcrafted staples and the best collection of tarot in town.
Gelinas Dental Studio | Dundas West
A good cleaning followed by Zoom feels great and is a wonderful self-care practice. Dr. Andrea Gelinas’ beautifully designed brainchild makes you like, maybe even love going to the dentist – we swear. It’s a refreshing take on dental hygiene with a warm, welcoming atmosphere – take one look at her beautiful website and you’ll see, she’s different.
Run and Gun | Dundas West
Owner Jihae has a passion for plants – this lush and green local coffee shop is perfect for a tea or a juice and a good Sunday read.
Klute Hair | Parkdale
Leesa is our go-to hair stylist – if you’re looking for an unpretentious, non-salon vibe this is the spot! Fun fact: It was also the home of the original MISFITSTUDIO!
Holdengrace | High Park
The best mani in town – we’re talking high design manis, and the salon itself boasts beautiful decor that always gets us inspired. Plus, they do great cuts & colour, too.
